چکیده

Background: Patients born with a single ventricle circulation commonly experience growth failure in early life, which is associated adverse outcomes infancy. However, associations between bodyweight or weight trajectory and clinical outcome post-Fontan procedure are yet to be determined. Methods: On the 1st of July 2021, systematic review was performed MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Scopus studies patients data association bodyweight. Quality evaluated by Newcastle–Ottawa scale for cohort Joanna Briggs Institute tool cross-sectional studies. Results: Of 527 that underwent title abstract screening, 15 were selected final review. An increased risk found low patients, consistent findings infants. Whilst there some evidence suggest mortality overweight adult conflicting as whether status heart failure. Increased BMI diminished exercise capacity deceased physiological functioning. Negative peri-Fontan period, whereas positive Fontan adulthood. Abnormal (high low) poorer performance quality-of-life scores. Conclusions: Bodyweight modifiable factor poor circulation. Recognizing pathophysiology may help define patient-centered diet interventions minimize patient morbidity mortality.
